The South Downs Way (2001) is part of a two-book series on the North and South Downs ways. Each trail is split into 12 day-long sections, illustrated with a route maps showing stopping points and places of interest. The guide features a thorough exploration of the trail from end to end, going west from Eastbourne to Winchester with 8 pages of colour photographs and 29 maps.

This book provides a series of detailed cycle routes and gives a very good indication of how much effort the ride will require, plus where to stop for refreshments. The rides are quite long in some cases and the book gives a number of places along the routes where they can be picked up.
